PHOENIX – The Arizona Chapter National Safety Council (ACNSC) donated $5,000 to St. Mary’s Food Bank on Tuesday, July 28, helping provide the equivalent of 25,000 nutritious meals for Arizona families, children, and seniors facing food insecurity.
ACNSC President and CEO Rick Murray presented the donation to John Drake, Corporate Giving Specialist at St. Mary’s Food Bank, during a check presentation at the organization’s Phoenix location.
“Food insecurity is a safety issue as much as an economic one,” says Murray. “Hunger affects judgment, reaction time, and physical well-being, all of which play a role in preventing injuries and keeping people safe. Families struggling to put food on the table often face additional stress that impacts safety at home, at work, and on the road.”
The donation reflects ACNSC’s commitment to protecting Arizona communities by supporting efforts that address the underlying factors affecting safety and quality of life.
“By supporting St. Mary’s Food Bank, we’re investing in healthier, safer communities,” says Murray. “This partnership reflects our belief that physical safety, mental well-being, and access to basic needs like nutritious food are closely connected. A safe community is one where people have the resources they need to thrive.”
